Sh*twave being an outcast was something I didn’t want to
throw away just yet. The character worked much better as an outsider conflicted
by his desire for power, yet still wanting to be in Megatron’s good graces.
This comic also further showed just how inept my version of Optimus can be.
Over the years I’ve tried to reinforce that Optimus isn’t a jerk on purpose but
he just says things without thinking about it, but I really don’t think the
readers see that the same way I do. I really like Hot Shot’s line in the Peanut
Gallery panel.
